#1 Korean Fried Chicken Recipe

Ingredients
- 500 g chicken wings or drumsticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 eggs
- Oil for frying
For the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons gochujang Korean red chili paste
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds for garnish
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, then dredge them in the flour mixture, making sure they're evenly coated.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer to 170°C (340°F). Fry the chicken in batches for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, gochujang, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Toss the fried chicken pieces in the sauce until evenly coated.
- Transfer the coated chicken to a serving plate and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
