Equipment

  • 2 x Bowl
  • 1 x wok
  • 1 x Pan
  • 1 x spatula
  • Spoons

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken wings or drumsticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • Oil for frying

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang Korean red chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  • Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, then dredge them in the flour mixture, making sure they're evenly coated.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer to 170°C (340°F). Fry the chicken in batches for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, gochujang, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
  • Toss the fried chicken pieces in the sauce until evenly coated.
  • Transfer the coated chicken to a serving plate and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Korean Fried Chicken!
